I used to be a blogger but I'm alright now. Father of one boy. Husband of one wife. Project manager at a strategic design agency at day. Amateur writer at night.
The foundation that runs Wikipedia has finally agreed to pay contributors to the online encyclopedia a modest fee for their work. But it will not pay the thousands of people who participate in creating the wiki pages - just artists who create “key illustrations” for the site. The payments are made possible by a $20,000 donation from Philip Greenspun, who said he was moved to give the money because of his experience seeing technical books he had originally published online appear in print.
Due to legal constraints and the company policy of GameSpot parent CNET Networks, details of Gerstmann’s departure cannot be disclosed publicly. However, contrary to widespread and unproven reports, his exit was not a result of pressure from an advertiser.

Gerstmann, GameSpot part ways - News at GameSpot
*cough* bullshit *cough*
The official website for Kane & Lynch lists two 5-star reviews that it never received. The quotes are pulled from early previews, and the 5 stars are pulled straight from their asses. It seems that Eidos is just completely delusional about their scores, if they’re willing to both get people fired and completely invent positive reviews.
Fuck you GameSpot: I’ve been an reader of GameSpot for years, but now this has come to an end. Never mix advertisement with editorial review. If you make a crappy game, you get a crappy score no matter how much money you spend on advertisement.
On Friday, staff from 1up walked down the street to Gamespot offices, and unfurled banners and picketed in support of fired colleague, Jeff Gerstmann. These happenings have been shaking the industry and it is time to fight back! Spread the word, give Kane & Lynch low review scores, post in forums, right Eidos and Gamespot…
In observing the GameSpot/Jeff Gerstmann affair, one thing comes to mind. “Videogame journalism.” Someone once told me that it was an oxymoron. I’m beginning to believe he’s on the money. It isn’t GameSpot, CNet or Gerstmann or the firing who are the focus of this article however - it’s the industry covering the affair (and readers as well.)

Is this what happens when advertising and editorial cross streams?
A source close to the editorial team has revealed that the row focused on the tone of the content of the original review, which was apparently subsequently altered. Tim Tracy, former head of video at the company, has also departed, although it’s not clear at this time whether or not the two are linked. Man, this site is going downhill from here on!
A beginners’ guide to the minds behind No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski, and much more.
The recent firing by Gamespot of long time writer Jeff Gerstmann over a less than favorable review of Kane & Lynch poses a good question to video game enthusiasts, can you really trust a site that accepts advertiser money from the company making the game they review?
Come on! What more description do you need!
